LAGOS POLICE ARRESTS FIVE MORE SUSPECTS OVER MURDER OF UNILAG MEDICAL GRADUATE.

The Lagos State Police Command says it has arrested five more suspects in connection with the killing of a medical graduate of the University of Lagos, Dr Stephen Urueye, who was attacked by hoodlums at Idi-Araba area of the state on Thursday. The arrest brings the number of suspects in police custody in connection with the case to seven.

The Public Relations Officer of the command, Bala Elkanna, said the five suspects were arrested on Saturday and are being interrogated by personnel at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti in Yaba. Elkanna said the command is following all the leads in the case and assured that the police will step up efforts to get rid of criminals in the state.

The command had on Friday arrested two suspects; Gbadebo Jimoh and Malik Adeboye in connection with Urueye’s murder.
Both suspects were said to have specialised in snatching of valuable items from people at Idi-Araba area.

The late Urueye, who participated in the graduation ceremony of the university of Lagos on Wednesday, was attacked by some bandits along Ishaga road, Idi-Araba on Thursday night. Efforts by doctors at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH, to safe his life were unsuccessful as he died from the injuries he sustained from the attack on Friday morning.
