Don't miss:

Bayelsa 2019 Will Timi Alaibe get it right the 5th Time

Not rescinding to habitual defeat in his quest to be governor of Bayelsa State, one time managing director of the Nigerian Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Timi Alaibe is once again the race to incumbent Governor, Seriake Dickson in 2019.

Alaibe, in the past contested the governorship primaries against Late D. S. P Alameiseigha, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan in the PDP between 1999 and 2003.

He also contested on the platform of the Labour Party (LP) in the aborted 2007 governorship election in the state and contested the cancelled 2016 governorship primaries of the All Progressives Congress(APC).

It would be recalled that in October 2018, the coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Program in the state defected from All Progressives Congress, APC, to the ruling party in the state; People’s Democratic Party, PDP, along with his supporters and other notable chieftains in Bayelsa.

Alaibe who had always been a pro-PDP politician before going to the APC acknowledged that his return to PDP in October 2018 was a return to base; and for a fact, his return to PDP made the party stronger. Among chieftains who returned with him then were a former Secretary to Bayelsa State Government, former Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Executive Secretary, State Universal Basic Education Board, SUB. These were not all the people.

As the governorship election in the gradually draws in the Bayelsa, all off appear to favor Alaibe.

On a flip thought, this is not the first time it appeared that the Opokuma born politician would have a clear coastal sail to the government house but ends up being truncated.
Often, at the beginning of his ambition, it always appeared like all odds would favour him, until there’s a turn in tide, then another candidate ends up emerging.

This time, it appears that Ben Bruce among others are whom Alaibe has to slug out the PDP governorship ticket with. Bruce who is nit returning to the senate stepped down on grounds of senatorial seat rotation in his Bayelsa East Senatorial District, but there are fillers the common sense senator is eyeing the job of the governor in the state.

Will Alaibe surmount the odds this time? Time will tell.
