The School Feeding programme of the Ekiti state government will
commence in due course in schools across the State.
The Senior Special Assistant to the State Governor on Home
Grown School Feeding programme, Mr. Ademola Obanise gave this
indication in Ado-Ekiti while inspecting cooking materials to be
distributed to selected vendors that would be engaged to do the
cooking for the programme.
The SSA, who said pupils in Primaries one to three would be fed,
added that Ekiti State government keyed into the Federal Government
initiated programme more so that the pupils and their parents would
benefit immensely from the programme.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Budget and Economic
Planning, Mr. James Owolabi, who said government prioritized the
Feeding programme for the pupils to start benefitting from the
programme immediately added that the feeding will be carried out once
in a day.
Mr. Owolabi emphasized the need for a balanced diet for the
pupils which he said would help in no small measure to refresh their
memories for quick assimilation.
The Home Grown School Feeding Programme is part of a 500 billion
Naira funded Social Investment Programme announced by the Muhammadu
Buhari-led Federal Government to tackle poverty and improve the health
and education of children and other vulnerable groups.
