HON SOB AGUNBIADE: THE PRODUCTIVE EARTHQUAKE OF UNCOMMON PROGRESS IN IKORODU CONSTITUENCY 1

_By Shakiru Seidu._

Silence cannot be tagged a sign of weakness but strength in disguise. There have been heated arguments about tenure of several representation from local to the federal level.

I really couldn’t phantom or decipher if it is outrightly wrong to maintain a tenure for a long period of time or not. It was Martin Luther King Jr. who said, ” life is not about duration but about donation.” but in Nigerian factor, both are said to be Siamese twins. It is in this regard i would want to psyche the mindset of an average resident of Ikorodu Constituency 1.

Basically, our major problem in Nigeria as a whole is the inability to scientifically and logically analyse our challenges, hence the snappy conclusion on every matter of life. In fact, to be in the corridor of power either legislative, executive or judiciary, consistent training should be sacrosanct to enable the representative acquire more experience.

A lot of prominent people have been elected newly into offices in the last election and some will equally be elected in the Governorship and Assemblies election newly. Those newly elected officers will of course be novice who must learn the nitty gritty and the norms in which ever position they vied for continuity is the bane of rapid development of any organization.

Unfortunately, it has been misconstrued and misunderstood by the larger society regarding any elected officer. The experience gathered over a long period of time will afford the elected officer the opportunity to exhibit confidence, dynamism and vigor to fully be in charge of effective and productive representation.

However, much has been said about Hon. S.O.B Agunbiade regarding his fourth term ambition without considering the efforts and synergy coupled with tough fights put up in the best interest of Ikorodu Division in the past. His achievements over the years are no doubt immeasurable.

In my opinion, Hon. S.O.B Agunbiade is the right man for the job, he went, he saw and he conquered just like the David of the Bible. The growth of our political vision in Ikorodu Division needs not to be truncated. When a novice is elected now, it will take us couple of years to retain our position in Lagos geo-political zone.

As i conclude this brief article, it might interest you to know that since 1999, a lot of legislators all over the federation have been elected repeatedly by their people because they represented them adequately. Why should S.O.B Agunbiade be exception?

However, as we go into the governorship and State Assembly elections on Saturday 9th of March, and as a true son of Ikorodu Division, I enjoin you all to be objective, sincere and vote continuity. Decisions made on sentiment, envy and unwarranted hatred will metamorphous to disasters.
