Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, acting pursuant to Section 2 of the Commission of Inquiry Law of Ekiti State, has approved the constitution of a Chieftancy Review Commission.
Members of the Commission are:
i) Hon Justice J.B.K. Aladejana (rtd) – Chairman
ii) Hon Busuyi Ayomide – Member
iii) Prof Isola Olomola – Member
iv) Prof Kunle Ajayi – Member
v) Mr B.A. Owolabi ( P.S. LG and CA) – Member
vi) H.A. Adeyemi – Legal Adviser
vii) Mr Remi Obaparusi – Secretary
Part of the Terms of Reference of the Commission are:
i) To examine thoroughly on merit the various representations , claims and petitions submitted by the communities after issuance of the White Paper on the Hon Justice Oyewole’s report on (a) upgrading or otherwise of recognised chieftaincies and (b) autonomy/recognition of communities.
ii) Investigate and make recommendations on any other chieftaincy matter(s) which may be referred to it by the state Government.
iii) To look into issues relating to the status of Obas and Chiefs, their paraphernalia of office and order of precedence.
The commission has six months to submit its recommendations
