On Thursday, 6th December, 2018, large deposits hit the accounts of Yinka Odumakin, Chief Ayo Adebanjo and Chief Edwin Clark simultaneously. Was this mere coincidence? What is the source of these lodgements?
What is known to the public was what followed afterwards. Chief Ayo Adebanjo and Yinka Odumakin led Afenifere and Chief Edwin Clark led his group of Niger delta elements to declare support for the PDP candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, in his bid to be Nigeria’s President after the 16th February, 2019 election. What is clear is that Chief Reuben Fasoranti, the respected Leader from Akure, was not part of this greedy scramble for pecuniary gains. His only grouse with APC is that the VP, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, has always snubbed him each time he came calling in Akure.
For Yinka Odumakin, the lure for filthy lucre is too strong, for which he is usually willing to sacrifice any relationship. How else would one explain the fact that this man ate and drank on the same table with Muhammadu Buhari in the run to the 16th April, 2011 presidential election. But as soon as the Supreme Court upheld the election of Dr Goodluck Jonathan, he bade the his erstwhile principal – General Muhammadu Buhari- a long good bye. Of course, it was not for anything done to him, but from his calculations as a rabid political opportunist who never believes in any other endeavour but only his interest, he jumped ship!
Yinka Odumakin had a cancerous growth on his left hand, which affected his phalanges but was assisted in an hospital abroad by Senator Bola Tinubu. But, at every turn of his pen, the same Bola Tinubu is often demonized because of his love for greater pecuniary interest.
After his misadventure with the Jimi Agbaje campaign organisation in 2007, he was in the lurch until Pastor Tunde Bakare brought him to General Muhammadu Buhari in 2010. He left unceremoniously and pitched his tent with Afenifere and started his pretentious and shameful misrepresentation of Yoruba interest. As has always been said, when did the Yoruba people of South West of Nigeria hold a referendum and appointed Aferenifere to represent their interest?
Yinka Odumakin had, in the past, used this dubious platform to inveigle many politicians to release huge sums of money to him in exchange for a deceptive, nonexistent Yoruba support!
In January 2014, Chief Edwin Clark, the Ijaw National Leader, asserted that, Yoruba people have not had a leader in the region since the demise of Chief Obafemi Awolowo and Pa Adekunle Ajasin, a former governor of Ondo state.
It was Yinka Odumakin, as spokesman for Afenifere, who reacted thus: “Chief Clark might have been right to some extent. Yoruba have not pronounced a solitary leader after the death of Senator PA Adesanya who represents the true of the people. As per those he said are purchasable, it is left for them to dispute that they never offered themselves as commodities.”
From this excerpted statement, Odumakin reinforced the belief that he never had the strong, albeit, dubiously held, mandate of speaking for the Yoruba people. Additionally, Yinka Odumakin did not attempt any acerbic riposte to Chief Edwin Clark’s because he knew that, as partners in crime, the latter had all the dossier on his shameful genuflecting conduct towards Dr Goodluck Jonathan’s regime.
He knew how Chief Edwin Clark would keep him and Chief Ayo Adebanjo waiting for hours before attending to them because they desired the needed link to Jonathan at that time!
Yinka Odumakin had his eyes firmly fixed on the dollars that Jonathan was bringing to South West for electioneering campaigns. He did the most despicable job for Jonathan.
After Chief Olusegun Obasanjo wrote his 18-page damning letter, titled ‘Before it is too late’ to Dr Goodluck Jonathan in December, 2013, it was Yinka Odumakin who received the commission to write a book, ‘Watching the Watcher’, as a scathing criticism of Obasanjo’s position . He made a haul of financial gains from that project!
So, whenever he saw any opportunity for financial gains, he deployed his fake Yoruba platform for the purpose; if the interest of a Yoruba man was involved, he would still follow his first love for Dollars!
After leaving General Muhammadu Buhari, he pitched his support with all political interests where he could scrounge funding for his greedy desires. At a time, he was actively supportive of political agenda of Dr Rahman Olusegun Mimiko , the former governor of Ondo state. He promised him Afenifere support. Later on, he got the massive link to former President Goodluck Jonathan and he sank his teeth at this big game!
It was from this invidious position that he and his Afenifere group proposed the infamous National Confab agenda to Dr Jonathan. Odumakin’s penchant for selfishness came into fore when himself and wife, Jo Okei-Odumakin , emerged as the only couple in the 492-member national confab of 2014!
In 2014, Dr Goodluck Jonathan and PDP knew that the real decider of the 2015 Presidential elections shall be the South West. In the run towards the election, Dr Jonathan literally abandoned governance and, awash with massive war chest in Dollars, made South West his temporary abode. It was this allurement of easy and greedy gains that made Afenifere of Yinka Odumakin to declare support for the candidature of Dr Goodluck Jonathan in the 2015 Presidential elections. They alleged that , by so doing, PDP was sure of the votes of the Yoruba people of South West. Unbecknownst to many Nigerians, these Odumakin’s Afenifere elements could not and can still not win elections in the polling booths in front of their houses! The resultant effect of their support for Jonathan was nugatory because Muhammadu Buhari battered Jonathan in the South West of Nigeria.
As it was then, so it is NOW.
It is against this backdrop that all discerning Nigerians know that the latest endorsement of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar by Odumakin’s Afenifere was nothing but business transactions done in the shady cloud of darkness. Let no man’s heart be affrighted because Yoruba people know that Odumakin’s Afenifere exists for the satisfaction of the desires of the gastric elements of its members.
The infrastructural injections in South West by the Muhammadu Buhari’s administration in the last three and a half years – as against PDP’s ruinous sixteen years -shall eloquently speak for massive victory for PMB in SW.
Indeed, SW shall move to the NEXT LEVEL of irreversible Growth with the PMB/PYO government toll 2023!
