NJC Ends Suspended CJN Onnoghen’ s Career, Recommends Compulsory Retirement

Information reaching Legit EJESGIST now is that the National Judicial Council has recommended compulsory retirement for the suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen. Onnoghen, who was served a six-count charge of false declaration of assets by the Code of Conduct Bureau has since been replaced by Acting CJN, Justice Tanko Mohammed. The NJC gave Onnoghen and Mohammed seven (7) days to respond to petitions served against them at the NJC.

Mixed reactions have trailed the suspension of Onnoghen by the President after CCT’s order. There were insinuations that the next Supreme Court Justice in line would take over after Onnoghen in acting capacity.

It was gathered that Justice Tanko Mohammed may be retaining his position as the Nation’s top judicial officer.
