Says they’re free to vote candidates of other parties in other elections*

Factional Chairman of Lagos State chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Fouad Oki, has enjoined members in the state to vote President Muhammadu Buhari as the party presidential candidate, saying, however, that they were free to vote for candidates of their choice who may not be APC candidates in other elections.
Oki said this while addressing party faithful from Alimosho, Ikeja and Agege at the launching of the APC door-to-door campaign held at the party’s secretariat at Egbeda, saying that the president had given them the freedom to vote their conscience in the elections.
According to him, since there are still aggrieved people within the party following last year’s party primaries, it would be wrong to force them to vote for people who are not theirs.
Oki made it clear that following the last primaries, some members were forced to quit and seek solace in other political parties, stressing that such people can be voted for by APC members if they were found worthy that the official candidates presented by the APC.
He urged the party members to come out massively to vote for the President Buhari, saying that aside from him, all other candidates of the APC in the state were imposed on the people.
He said maintained that such a situation must stop as the state must cease to be the personal political estate of any individual.
“Just as it is in Kwara State where the people said enough is enough to the political hegemony of an individual, we are also saying enough is enough in Lagos state,” he insisted.
Besides, Oki who is also the South West Coordinator of the Buhari-Osinbajo Campaigns dared members of the state House of Assembly to impeach Governor Akinwunmi Ambode as they had been threatening to do.
“If they try to remove him, we would remove them. Ambode may not be our friend, but it is an injustice to want to remove him because he refused to ‘dash out’ Lagos State money. That will no longer happen in our state. Those who want to remove the governor must be removed,” he said.
