Gubernatorial candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka has said his administration if elected, will bring an end to dehumanization of Ogun State Pensioners by ensuring payment of their emoluments and backlog of gratuities.
The governorship hopeful spoke on Wednesday in Abeokuta, the State capital, during a consultatory visit to the Nigerian Union of Pensioners, Ogun State Chapter.
While responding to numerous demands of the senior citizens, Isiaka reiterated his plans to take Ogun to greater heights, assuring that his administration will make the welfare of pensioners a huge priority.
He also promised that under his watch, they would not suffer neglect as his administration will invest in human capital development and also create a healthy environment for businesses to thrive.
Isiaka, however, noted that the attendant hassles usually associated with pensions payment will be largely curtailed by his government, saying under his watch, it will be comfortable for Pensioners to get their entitlements.
“We need to take care of our older ones. They’ve served this State and by extension this country, all we need to do is to give them the assurance that we are going to take care of them in our programs. What we are saying is, we need to do things right in our State.”
“Human capital development is very important. While infrastructural development is good, we cannot do that at the expense of total neglect of human capital development.”
“We are going to ensure we facilitate regular payment of their emoluments, their gratuities in particular, also their pension. We are also going to ensure that we provide free medical services to our pensioners especially those that are 70 years and above.”
“We are also going to create a very good environment for their children. This we will do by providing jobs for their graduate children and also ensure that we do well in the area of education. We will take care of our Pensioners and our heroes past, ” he stated.
