The Federal Government has accused former Vice President and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of benefiting N156million from a slush fund that led to the collapse of Bank PHB.
Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed disclosed this on Friday while briefing State House Correspondents at the presidential villa, Abuja.
The information minister who was reacting to the recent visit by the PDP presidential candidate to the United States of America said he should return to the country and explained to Nigerians his role in the bankrupt of Bank PHB now Key Stone Bank.
Lai said although his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Government of President Muhammadu Buhari was not perturbed by the visit of Atiku to US, he should hurry back to defend his position in the huge corruption that led to the collapse of the bank.
The information minister had earlier raised concern on plans by the United State government to issue a visa to the PDP presidential candidate.
According to him, granting a visa to Atiku who has not traveled the US in the past twelve years will mean his endorsement for the 2019 general election.
