In furtherance of the education policy of the Government of Ekiti state,the Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi has approved the establishment of 6 new secondary schools in Ado Ekiti.This is to reduce population explosion in existing secondary schools in Ado metropolis and ensure effective learning. The new schools will alleviate the burdens on parents in the cost of transporting their wards to school. Besides,it will also reduce the attendant risks in travelling long distances on daily basis and allow the children access to schools in their neighborhood.
The schools are to be strategically located in the following neighborhoods:
(a) Government Estate along Ikere road,
(b)Ilokun area, along Iworoko road, (c) Emirin junction along Fed Polytechnic road,
(d)Old Iyinroad, (e) Afao Ekiti road,and (f)Omisanjana/ Sije road.
The Ministry of Education in a release said it has commenced collaboration with the Ministries of Lands&Housing, Agriculture & Natural Resources and the Office of the State Surveyor General to set in motion processes that would facilitate the acquisition of lands.All these efforts are to ensure that four of these schools take off in September 2019 while the remaining two will resume in September 2020.
Each school is to commence with a block of 6 classrooms and a 5 rooms Administrative block. It is the desire of this administration to reposition education and the Ministry appeals for the cooperation of all stakeholders to enable it bring succour to the people of Ekiti in this sector.
