The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has vowed to obey the ruling of an Ilorin High Court, that invalidated and declared illegal the Bashir Bolarinwa led faction of the All Progressives Congress in Kwara State.
The Chairman of the Independent Electoral Commission, Prof. Mahmud Yakubu disclosed this on Wednesday, while speaking at the end of the 5th General Assembly of the Northern traditional rulers Council held in Kaduna State.
Speaking to reporters at the end of the event, Prof. Yakubu said “the Commission will always abide by all court orders in the crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress in Zamfara, Rivers and Kwara State.”
He also reiterated the commitment of the commission to a fair, credible and acceptable process, that is tandem with standard practice.
Recall that an Ilorin High Court, in a ruling delivered by Justice T.S Umar, had held that the constitution of the Bashir Bolarinwa led executive is unknown to law, arbitrary and hence illegal.
The Court however, recognized the Ishola Balogun Fulani led Excutives as the duly elected state executive committee.
By implication, the Court declared as illegal the nomination of Mr. Abdulrazaq Abdulrahman by the Balogun Fulani led faction and gave legitimacy to the nomination of MR. Kayode Omotoshe, as the Kwara APC Governorhsip Candidate.
