We had a fruitful advocacy visit to Daily Trust yesterday, 28th December 2018, where we were well received by Mr Ademola Oladosu, General Manager, South. This was followed by a brief unofficial visit to West Africa Examination Council International facility, a mind robbing session ensured between me and some of my very intelligent minds on the team, which gave me the opportunity of feeling the pulse of the group and that of the society at large.
The polity is being unnecessarily heated by the duo of PDP and APC, with APC members and fans taking unreasonable detour that will lead us nowhere.
Political naratives has unfortunately been narrowed down to PDP/APC and Atiku and PMB, though the candidates of the other political parties are bearly noticed, they are still very much contenders for the title until otherwise decided by the electorates.
*The following positions are critical in our determination to uphold CONSTITUTIONAL DEMOCRACY.*
(1) PMB isn’t a SAINT and neither is he a thief!
(2) Atiku isn’t a SAINT and neither is he a thief until proven so by a competent court of law.
(3) Human frailties are known to all, a completely perfect individual doesn’t exist; one devoid of any flaw can only be found on the other side of time. In the same vein no human being is completely useless, devoid of ANYTHING GOOD, so Buhari is not completely useless; for emphasis.
(4). Personalities must be celebrated within the confines of their loyalty to the nation, conformity to our constitution, and performance on their beat of engagement.
(5) Every human, has a fair share of both the good and the bad, It’s a case of a little to the right and a little to the left, the law is there to moderate all, and to conform us to societal expectations. So our personality is at the mercy of the law and not the media.
(6) While PMB is acclaimed to be a man of Integrity, which is good for him, his bigotry is proven to the highest heaven and his nepotism is confirmed in hell.
(7) While Atiku is a far more detribalised and libral minded person than PMB, the question of being corrupt is not for him to answer, it is for all of us to prove. And if we have not, up till now. Then we better shut up and proceed with 2019 elections.
(8) Integrity doesn’t mean efficiency or effectiveness and doesn’t translate to performance and PMB has just proven that.
(9) Leadership must be a balance of integrity and intelligence. The heart for the job must carry the head for it. Leader shouldn’t borrow head, it will never work. Our duty in 2019 is to find one who has the heart and the head combined in same personality.
(10) PMB/APC apologists should be more broadminded in evaluating situations and people. My concern is for the very intelligent one among them, who are finding it hard holding on to their pre 2015 position on PMB, but are determined to maintain same position against common sense. They’re beginning to betray their content and gradually coming out as the most parochial people on earth. They should change, otherwise, PMB win or loose, they will loose their societal respect. Without apologies, this PMB is a dead horse, kicking it is needless. This however will be too terrible for any of his diehard supporters to find out post 2019 elections, it will surge up rate of suicide. Please don’t take a stand today that may make you contemplate suicide tomorrow.
(9) PMB/APC apologists should stop calling Buhari a saint, while they call Atiku a thief, Atiku supporters should stop digging for PMB dirts, if it can’t be substantiated. With his grandeur incompetency we have enough on our hands. We don’t need anymore of him.
(10) Agencies of Government should not be used as political tools to persecute opponents neither should they become campaign platform for continuity of bloodletting, incompetency and economic woes as witnessed at the collaboration between NOA and PACAC.
(11) The likes of Prof. Itse Sagay can’t be generalizing, alleging that PDP are looters and when confronted with petitions written to EFCC regarding Akpabio he requested of his audience at a summit on fight against corruption to provide him with evidences. In another breath, reference was made to opinion of Obasanjo on Atiku in his book My Watch, the erudite professor simply said he has not read Obasanjo’s book. So if PACAC has not been dutiful enough to pursue leads provided pro bono, then let them shut up and face the election.
(11) APC/PMB apologists should stop CRIMINALIZING people who aren’t of their political persuasion, they know what to do in a constitutional democracy. Every one has equal right, under the law, to support and campaign for his/her Party or Person(s) of his/her choice.
(12) In our own interests, we must keep the campaign issues based. Politicians are known for politics. Nigeria is about us, they are looking for work, unfortunately this work is about our destiny and future. We can’t play politics with it to our disadvantage and advantage politicians. Let’s stand firm on issues.
Dr. Bolaji Akinyemi,
President PVC-NAIJA.
