Telecom Satellites Limited (TSTV) is re-strategising to take over market from DSTV, StartTimes and other pay TV industries in Nigeria, according to Benjamin Zida, chief operating officer, TSTV.

 

Zida, said they have entered into a fresh and strategic relationship with reputable international brands with the aim to supply its customers with premium and uninterrupted transmission and content.

He made this known during a press briefing on Friday in Abuja to hint Nigerians on the firm’s plans to take over the market from other pay tv companies, saying, “They are only DTH platform transmitting all of her channels from Nigeria.”

 

According to him, “TSTV has not forgotten her promises to Nigerians, neither have we abandoned them. In our bid to serve our customers better, we have recruited seasoned,  experienced talents and, veterans who have occupied similar roles and capacities in the pay tv industry to manage TSTV”.

He added: “One of such partnerships is with Azercosmos. Azercosmos is an open joint stock company and a satellite operators based in Azerbaijan, and the first satellite operator in Caucasus region.

 

“We have entered into partnership to improve our content offering. We are also in various advanced talks with other international content providers to acquire more premium content and channels.”

He further added that currently, transmitting over 50 channels, all free to Nigerians, reviewing and optimizing these channels as well as creating a distribution network for easy accessibility of our products.

 

Zida said that the subscription model will be on a pay-as-you-watch basis for all available channels charged on an hourly rate.

He said: “They currently run a single bouquet and all the channels on the bouquet will be available for this hourly rate. The validity period is 45 days, thus is to allow our customers have value for their money.

Earlier, Samaddin Asapov, chief financial officer, Azezcosmos OJECO, said customers extraction is one of the goals of the partnership.

 

About 70 HD channels will be available soon on its platform according to the pay tv company.
