The Chairman of Lagos State National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) Alhaji Tajudeen Agbede, endorses Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, Tuesday November 20, 2018.
The declaration to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) flag bearer was held at the campaign office of the party’s candidate at Oduduwa Crescent in Ikeja GRA. It afforded the NURTW boss to present the ICG with ten mini space busses amidst crowd of members from the road transport union.
While addressing some leaders of the party in attendance, Mr. Agbede remarked that his group was ready to deliver victory for the APC in Lagos State.
“We are ready to work for the victory of the party, and this is our tradition, and we have given our words,” he said.
He also used the medium to announce presentation of 10 mini space busses to the campaign team led by the Director General and the Deputy, Mr. Tayo Ayinde and Cardinal James Odumbaku.
Reacting first, Deputy Director General of the Independent Campaign Group, Cardinal James Odumbaku commended the good gesture of NURTW. He said the group has shown to remain loyal to the APC in Lagos State.
“I have nothing to say other than to thank you for believing in us and willing to support us and achieve victory at the 2019 general elections.” The bespectacled member of Governors Advisory Council said.
Corroborating the position of Cardinal James Odumbaku on the NURTW endorsement for Mr. Sanwo-Olu, Director General, Mr. Tayo Ayinde said the party was expecting Mr. Agbede led NURTW to convince half of Lagos population to vote for APC.
“Lagos is over 20 million in population, we expect you to deliver half of the population in favour of APC,” he said.
He urged the group to remain loyal and educate members on the need to convince the masses in order for them to cast their vote for APC.
“As bus drivers, you meet the masses as passengers in your busses every day, you must find a way to convince them and make them vote for APC,” he suggested.
Mr. Tayo Ayinde also advised people in attendance to vote for President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, as well as other candidates from the three Senatorial Districts, Federal House of Representatives and State House of Assembly of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos State.
