Younger brother of the immediate past Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Isaac Fayose, has written him, encouraging him to keep hope alive.
He lauded his efforts in developing the state and fighting for the cause of the common man in Nigeria.
In a public letter entitled: Open letter to my dear brother Ayo Fayose, he said: “It is with deep love, great admiration and inspiration that I publicly write to address my dearest elder brother, Peter Ayodele Fayose on this day that history is being made as you complete successfully the journey of four years of intriguing but successful, eventful, fulfilling but challenging, and achievement laden tenure in office as the Executive Governor of our dear state, Ekiti.
“I make bold to declare to you my dear courageous, love personified, great and very sincere brother that you have served Ekiti and indeed Nigeria at large, very well.
“You have particularly defended the cause of the common man, those usually referred to as the dregs of our society, they are your friends and you have done well in being their mouthpiece as the Senior Advocate of the Masses (SAM).
“Brother Ayo, your achievements as Governor of Ekiti towers admirably well over those of every other chief executives who have been privileged like you, to lead our dear state,” he said.
Recalling the governor’s past achievement and why he would remain relevant in Nigeria’s political terrain in spite of duanting odds against him, he said: “It is no gainsaying the fact that you contributed to over 70 percent of all the infrastructural developments recorded in Ekiti State today. This sterling achievement, which puts you far ahead of other past chief executives of the state, are visible in all areas of human endeavour in the state.
“You had opened up Ekiti during your first tenure with well constructed dualized roads which brought modernity and economic progress to the state capital, and other Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state.
“The roads included the Ado-Ikere dualized road which you completed in your second tenure, Awedele road and 11other dualized road networks across the state and in headquarters of the LGAs, among others.
“You had built the Trade fair with prestigious structures such as the Adetiloye hall, Jibowu hall and Fountain Hotel and Suites among others and named many of these beautiful structures after distinguished Ekiti indigenes and leaders as befitting honours for them during their lifetime.
“You had also built the first most elaborate governor’s office and other necessary structures including the presidential lodge among others.
“Your love for Ekiti people as reflected in the caring manner with which you drew them to you by personally meeting with the masses, artisans, tailors, Okada riders and others and attending to their needs at all time has been unprecedented and may never been surpassed by your successors.
“When you came back the second time, you have consolidated on your many achievements during the first tenure.
“You again opened up Ekiti to beauty and splendour with the fly over, new muilti-purpose Governor’s office, new High Court complex, completion of the Ado-Ikere dualized road which has also beautified the ancient city of Ikere, a pride of Ekiti kingdom.
“You gave employment to Ekiti people, the young and old and they all loved you for this.
“You built the prestigious Oja Oba , King’s market which has now placed the state capital as one of the most commercially viable cities in Nigeria.
“Other legacy projects you accomplished included the new Speaker’s residence, Women Development Centre complex which you named after the late deputy to All Progressive Congress (APC) ‘s newly inaugurated governor of the state, Kayode Fayemi who was late Mrs. Adunni Olayinka. Many have praised you for doing this as it showed your style of politics is without bitterness.
“Under your stewardship as Governor of Ekiti, our educational standard got a huge boost as the state came tops in the National Examination Council (NECO).
“You have given the teachers their reward on earth with your excellent disposition and support towards them. You gave almost all civil servants due promotions even in arrears and employed thousands of them.
“Most significantly, you performed excellently well in speaking for the poor, the downtrodden and the defenceless.”
Encouraging his elder brother further, he said: ” in spite of very hostile and oppressive government of the day, you displayed unparalleled courage and confronted the powers that be and put them on their toes to not only deliver good leadership but also to desist from autocratic and dictatorial tendencies.
“Brother Ayo, indeed you are my hero and the hero of millions of Nigerians whose cause you fought gallantly.
“As the curtain draws on your fulfilling journey to and fro the Ekiti government office, I wish you greater success ahead.
“Although there are strong indications that the road ahead will be rough, there is however stronger assurance that you will triumph indeed. In Psalm 92:12, the Bible says: ‘the Righteous flourishes like the river’, surely, victory is yours.
“You have paid your due in serving and defending our people and the heavens and TRUTH will defend you in the tough journey ahead, ride on dear brave brother, ride on the people’s man and advocate of the masses, ride on Ayo Fayose, Oshokomole of the universe!!!.”
