The aspiration of PDP gubernatorial hopeful, Engr. Seyi Makinde received a major boost at the Oyo North Senatorial District meeting held in Saki, in Oke Ogun area of Oyo State on Wednesday when party leaders and members adopted him as their governorship candidate for the 2019 election.
At the meeting chaired by Oyo North Senatorial Chairman and Oyo State PDP Vice Chairman, Hon. Waheed Oluwakemi Ayinde, Hon Debo Adejumobi from Atisbo Local Government moved a motion for the adoption of Engr. Seyi Makinde to be the flag bearer in the election. He said he was moving the motion based on the fact that the people of the state are clamouring for Seyi Makinde as the only candidate who can defeat the ruling party in the state.
The motion was seconded by Engr. Sarafa Omirinde from Saki West Local Government and majority of the party members present at the meeting erupted in jubilation.
The meeting had in attendance 11 local government chairmen and representatives of the two local government’s executive council whose chairmen were absent.
Party leaders such as Chief Jacob Adetoro, Senator Hosea Agboola, Rt Hon Mulika Adeola Akande, Alhaji Suleiman Adediran (Santana), to mention a few, spoke glowingly of the adopted candidate, Engr. Seyi Makinde, and vowed to work together with all within and outside the party to ensure Engr. Makinde wins the 2019 governorship election.
It will be recalled that the Oyo South Senatorial district held a similar meeting two weeks ago where Engr. Seyi Makinde was equally adopted.
In a related development, Engr. Seyi Makinde has obtained an expression of interest and governorship nomination form from the National Headquarters of the party, Wadata Plaza Abuja on Thursday , signifying his readiness to contest the 2019 gubernatorial election under the umbrella of the PDP in Oyo State. He was accompanied by chieftains of the party from the state which include, Chief Jacob Adetoro, Chief Sunday Ogunlade, Hon Remi Ayodele and former Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Moruf Atilola.
