Hundreds of Okada riders at Osogbo,Osun state capital on Sunday stormed the All Soul Anglican Church ,calling on Senator Ademola Adeleke to rescue them from hunger and punitive levies by the Osun state government.
The okada riders who were also joined by hundreds of voters from Okefia area lamented the deepening poverty crisis and the many challenges they are facing in the state.
One by one they reeled out their frustrations with state of affairs especially what they called economic hardship occassioned by many anti-people policies of Ogbeni Aregbesola”s government .
Speaking in Yoruba language and mixed pigdin ,a leader of the group called Mutex told Senator Adeleke that his colegaues are suffering due to arbitary levies ,arrests and seizure of motocycles.
“Baba please come to our aid. Hunger is here .Please come to our rescue.Save us from this bad government’,he said.
Another Okada rider named Jallo told the governorship candidate that non payment of salaries has direct effect on them in their daily operations.
“Baba,osise ijoba njiya gan.Ko si salary,kosi owo osu.Afusa ti ba Osun je.Egbawa o,eyin omo baba alalubarika Ede(Government workers are suffering.No salary;no pension.Half salary has destroyed Osun.Save us )”,the group noted in Yoruba language.
Addressing the huge crowd ,Adeleke promised to address the pain and suffering of the people from his first days in office.
“I know what you are passing through.I will stop all arbitrary taxes.I will stop harrassment of your members .I will join hands with the private sector to create wealth.I will represent you well”,the governoship candidate noted.
As a mark of solidarity with the PDP candidate ,the okada riders accompanied him in a motorcade up to his exit from the capital.
