The State of Osun House of Assembly today organised a special session for the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Najeem Salaam, on the occasion of his 53rd birthday ceremony.
The programme which took placed in the Main Chamber of the Assembly had the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Akintunde Adegboye, as the chairman of the occasion with all the Principal Officers and other Hon. Members led by the Majority Leader of the Assembly, Hon. Timothy Owoeye in attendance as well as former Hon. Members and Chairman and Members of the Assembly Service Commission.
The occasion that was started with prayers and songs of praises both in a Christian and Islamic ways witnessed a presentation of lecture by the Chief Medical Director, LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Hakeem Lasisi, represented by Dr. Babatunde Afolabi, on Stress Management; A Tool to Healthy Living, where he admonished individual being to take stress off of the body by eating balance diets, exercising the body regularly, sleeping for at least 8hrs in the night and find time to relax by visiting parks and gardens or a serene environment which the Lecturer said prolongs humans’ life.
In their goodwill messages, all the Hon. Members eulogized and praised the leadership qualities of their principal describing him as a cool, calm, calculative, humble, easy going who is endowed and blessed with native intelligence saying all these values put together assisted the Parliament under his watch in the last Seven and half years to achieve so much in the areas of law making and resolutions beneficiary to the citizenry of the state as well as mutual relationship with the Executive arm of government that promotes good governance witnessing in the state currently.
Responding to all encomiums showered on him by his colleagues and well wishers alike, the birthday boy, Dr. Najeem Salaam who was full of gratitude to God for His favour on him as an orphan at the age of two as a result of the death of his mother promised not to relent his efforts in the service to humanity and keeping fate to the tenets of democracy so as to jointly nurture the young democracy in the country to grow urging politicians to always play politics without bitterness by imbibing the spirit of sportsmanship when contested an elections and either win or loose.
