The factional chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC in Lagos, Mr Fouad Oki has sent strong signals to the Tunde Balogun faction and its backers that he is ready for a serious battle ahead of the 2019 general elections.
Oki, a veteran campaign strategist who led the electioneering of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Babatunde Fashola and Akinwunmi Ambode had commenced local governments tour in Lagos meeting with hundreds of party members loyal to his faction.
The former Lagos Safety Commission boss had last week met with members in Agege, the political domain of the speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly speaker, Hon Mudashiru Obasa.
The factional chairman also yesterday stormed Alimosho local government, the acclaimed ‘Tinubu country’ to the rousing reception of hundreds of party faithful loyal to his political cause.
Oki had told the crowd that it was high time to end the reign impunity in the party and uphold the rule of law and equity. He said he was ready to see the struggle to the logical conclusion.
According to him, “we have been pushed to the wall. Our patient has been taken for granted for too long. Enough is enough”.
Oki is believed to be a strong politician with unrivaled appeal at the grassroots throughout Lagos State.
