Eleka Media Support Group has called on parents with children and wards who are students at the Federal University of Technology Oye, FUOYE, to call their children to order, and not allow themselves to be used as instruments of political machination.
The call was neccesitated following a public outcry and tip off made by Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, about plans by the President Buhari led government of the All Progressives Congress, APC, to connive with INEC, the electoral umpire to engage students of Federal University of Technology Our, FUOYE, and other young APC loyalists as returning officers to rig the forthcoming July 14, election.
The governor made the public outcry, that the Buhari led government was making plans to subvert the outcome of the electoral process, by boycotting the over 9,000 Youth Corps members in Ekiti State, ( which is a common practice in the country to engage NYSC members in elections across the country) instead the APC in collusion with INEC has asked that students of the Federal University, Oye Ekiti (FUOYE) be recruited as INEC ad-hoc staff for the election, as against the general practice of using youth corps members.
The governor declared authoritatively that he was in possession of an Internal Memorandum from the office of the Dean of Students Affairs, FUOYE seeking registration of students of the University as INEC Presiding and Returning Officers for the Election.
There are also schemes in place to make money transfers to these young adults through pseudo accounts of their relatives, so no money is directly traceable to them.
Moyo Odunlami spokesperson for Eleka/Ogunsakin Media Support organisation, has called on Parents of Wards in the FUOYE, and well meaning Ekiti indigents to nip this situation in the board, and call their wards to order, so they don’t mortgage their destiny’s for cheap sums.
“If the government in center are confident enough, they should allow a level playing field for true test of popularity among the candidates, and let’s see, if the will of the people will not supercede the will of those in power. I
“In their over three and half years in office, what do they have to show, on score board.
“They had better not involve our young men and women in their dubious schemes”, Moyo accerts
