GROUP URGES SENATOR DINO TO HONOUR POLICE INVITATION.

bestman nzeA  call has gone to the embattled senator representing  Kogi west in the Senate, Senator Dino Melaye to honour the invitation of the police in respect of a case of gun running and arming youth towards the 2019 elections as his refusal shows disrespect.

The advise was given on Monday in Abuja by the National Coordinator of Team Nigeria For Change,Chief Bestman  Nze Jumbo in a press release made available to journalists, describing the continued refusal of the senator to honour police invitation over a week after, shows clearly he does not respect the constitution he purposefully sworn to protect.

He stated that by the constitution of the country, there is no one that’s above the law and the invitation so far is  not an indictment of the distinguished senator but to clarify from him,but rather than honour the invitation Senator Dino has been giving conditions to appear, which in itself is self serving, discriminatory and vexatious.

According to him” the group wishes to appeal to senator Dino Melaye to desist from attaching conditions to his appearance before the police investigating his indictment by arrested thugs recently. He swore to protect  the nation’s  constitution,he must at all time be seen doing such by respecting it and as such should subject himself to police scrutiny ,which in anyway is not conviction but an attempt at finding out his involvement or otherwise.”

Continuing ” by the letters of our constitution  there is no one that’s above the law. Mr senator should honour the police invitation by clearing himself of being involved in the gun running. It’s is self serving, discriminatory  and vexatious for him to be attaching conditions to his preparedness to honour the police.”

Finally, the group also appealed to the Senate especially it’s leadership to prevail on the senator to honour the police invitation so as not to set bad precedent as most Nigerians look up to the Senate for direction and any attempt by one of theirs to disrespect the police will not augur well for future police- citizen relationship.
