Osogbo Development Action Group (ODAG)

PRESS STATEMENT
CLARION CALL TO ORDER ON NEW LCDAS
1. Osogbo Development Action Group is a group comprising Osogbo youths.
2. We are compelled to issue this press statement as a result of rude shock initiated by the incoherent and parallel-like manner in which the state government of Osun under the governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, and the Speaker of the State Parliament, Hon. Najeem Salam , handled the announcement of the Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).
3. ODAG rose from its weekly meeting held in Osogbo today to not only vehemently condemn the caricatures and abracadabra displayed so far but to also outrightly reject the the cast of LCDAs carved out of the existing Osogbo Local Government i.e Osogbo South and Osogbo West.
The statement credited to Mr Salam according to his CPS Goke Butika that ” the errors (in the cast of LCDAs) would be administratively corrected in order to bear the true configuration of the two councils (Osogbo South and Ede North) in line with the deliberation of the parliament as passed into law” became suspicious when the previous announcement was suddenly and brazenly changed in a thievery manner to reflect a more advanced 419 in the purported administrative corrections.
4. We had expected that the areas already omitted in the casting of Osogbo South (I.e Omoluabi Garment Factory, Oranmiyan New Town, down to Elesin Water Boundary in that axis) and Osogbo West (From Elesin Water Boundary in that axis, Zone 11 Police Headquarters, News Agency of Nigeria, to Nigerian Custom Service upward) would be administratively corrected according to existing and legally backed boundary.
5. We therefore accordingly resolved as follows:
i. That the gentility of the Osogbo Community must not be taken for stupidity or docility by Osun Government and thus must not take us for granted.
ii. That the state government of Osun must withdraw the list of the LCDAs from circulation and make all necessary legal adjustments to reflect the correct casting.
ii. That the Speaker of the State Parliament, Mr Najeem Salam, must resign his position for imposing his personal interest on the parliament and singlehandedly changing the collective decision of the Parliament through his purported administrative corrections which is strange to the laws and judgements of competent courts.
v. That the state government and every other corporate entities and individuals must forthwith address the State Government Secretariat and its environs as Gbongan/Ibadan Road, Osogbo in line with existing laws and gazetted administrative pronouncements on the subject matter.
vi. That Hon. Akintunde Adegboye (Osogbo State Constituency) and Hon. Wasseu Adebayo (Olorunda State Constituency) representing Osogbo Community are by this medium petitioned to follow up these resolutions to the letter.
vii. That we hereby issue a 3-day ultimatum to all affected stakeholders to effect these resolutions.
6. Thanks.
