PDP Accuses Aregbesola of using consultants instead of commissioners to milk Osun

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Osun state chapter, yesterday condemned the continued usage of consultants as alternative to commissioners to head Ministries in the state.

 

The party, in a statement issued in Osogbo by its director of publicity, media and strategy, Prince Diran Odeyemi, accused governor Aregbesola of deliberately ignoring calls to conduct local government elections since he took over in 2010.

PDP said from its findings, Governor Aregbesola chose not to appoint Commissioners and Special Advisers over one year after its election as governor because he wanted to enrich few party members he called Consultants at the detriment of the state despite the financial mess the state is in.

 

“We have been informed that those being used as consultants are former Commissioners who are  getting bigger pay than what they would have earned as commissioners, they have all retained and still live in their official quarters and still use official vehicles”

“It should be on record that Mr. Aregbesola will be the only governor in the history of Nigeria to run state affairs for the longest period without a cabinet and spend more on APC consultants party while workers are still being owe 4 months salary” the party said.

 

It further chided the governor over non conduct of the council polls, saying Aregbesola was afraid to hold council poll because those he appointed as executive secretaries have threatened to expose him should he ask them to leave office.

It then advised the governor to immediately set machinery in motion for the conduct of LG polls and stressed that state cabinet is not formed over one year of Aregbesola’s reelection is making Osun a laughing stock among comity of states in the country.
