Give Ekiti remaining bail-out funds, NUT charges FG

 

Teachers in Ekiti State under the aegis of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) have called on the Federal Government to as a matter of urgency release the balance of the bail-out fund to Ekiti State to effect the payment of September 2014 salary and leave bonus of primary school teachers without further delay.

In a communique at the end of the NUT Ekiti State Wing Executive Council meeting held yesterday in Ado-Ekiti, the NUT resolved that the state government should keep mounting pressure on the FG to get the balance of the fund.

 

The communique was signed by the State Chairman, S.K. Akosile, State Secretary, Ajibade O.O and the Publicity Secretary, B.S. Oguntuase.

The NUT also called on the state government to henceforth ensure that salaries of teachers are paid at the end of the month as it was the practice before September 2015.

 

This, the teachers added, would help in alleviating the plight of teachers.

The NUT also lauded Governor Ayodele Fayose for the unprecedented recognition he gave teachers during the recently-held Teachers’ Day.

 

The union thanked the governor for the various gifts given teachers on the day and the appointment of a headmaster general for the first time in the state.

It called on teachers at all levels to remain committed to their duties and complement government’s efforts at repositioning education in the state.

The union expressed appreciation to members for enduring the slight delay in the payment of their September 2015 salaries.
