Guaranty Trust Bank plc, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, supports child healthcare, under its Orange Ribbon Initiative. An important part of this initiative is the support for children with developmental disabilities, especially children living with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). This awareness and intervention programme is held annually and the 5th edition will hold from 30th June – 10th July 2015.
The 2015 autism programme includes a 2-day conference on 30th June and 1st July and a 7-day one-on-one consultation service with specialists, for children living with Autism.
The 2-day autism conference themed ‘Bridging Gaps and Transforming Lives’. encompasses a broad array of learning and discussion which include – helping individuals with special needs participate in the political process, social justice education quality and access to technology, behaviour training and management of autism, the need for good diagnosis and design of treatment, teaching non-verbal chidden functional communication, to mention a few. Consultation service will be provided to children with developmental conditions, including those yet to be properly diagnosed. Services that will be provided during consultation include, speech pathology, audiology, parent counselling, behaviour analysis, clinical psychology and occupational therapy.
