Former Kano State Governor and member of the Senate, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, has called the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to sanction the Senate President Bukola Saraki for violating the party discipline.
Speaking in an interview with selected journalists in Abuja on Monday, Kwankwasho said Saraki’s over-ambition gave way for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to reap where it did not sow, having been rejected in the polls by Nigerians.
He said he was qualified to contest the Senate presidency, because he was the only senator that gave President Muhammadu Buhari 750,000 from his senatorial district, the highest number of votes from any district, adding that because the president came from his zone, they considered to give the seat to another zone.
Kwankwaso, the senator representing Kano Central, noted that from the day President Buhari’s victory was announced, things had started changing in the country.
He said the power supply had improved, while shares in capital market were going up, with the exchange rate stabilising.
On whether President Buhari summoned the meeting of all elected National Assembly members on the platform of the APC, Kwankwaso said that he received a text message that morning that President Buhari would address them at the international Conference Centre by 10.00 a.m, though the message was not from the president, while the sender did not indicate his name.
“The party missed some vital steps and it gave ample opportunity to Saraki’s faction,” he said.
