Following the emergence of Hon. Yakubu Dogara as the Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, Naijajottestgist decided to undergo an investigative journalism to ascertain those members of the House, who were the brains behind the defeat of Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, and it is a shocking revelation that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s son in-law, Hon. Oyetunde Oladimeji Ojo was a major player.
It is quite incredible that Tinubu’s son in-law, Hon. Oyetunde Ojo, who represents Ijero/Efon/Ekti West of Ekiti State at the Federal House of Representatives on the influence of Asiwaju Tinubu, could instigate members of the House to vote against Hon. Gbajabiamila, the anointed candidate of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. Aside the fact that Tinubu was a contributing factor to the emergence of Hon. Ojo as a member of House of Representatives; he is also the father to his wife, Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, the new Iyaloja of Lagos.
According to our investigation, Hon. Oyetunde Ojo and the immediate past Speaker of the House, Gov. Aminu Tambuwal were major key players in APC who worked against the candidacy of Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila on the premise that he is too arrogant to lead the House efficiently and fruitfully, coupled with the fact that majority of the House members don’t like him.
Moreover, Naijahottestgist gathered that some of the colleagues of Gbajabiamiala in the House, who were his canvassers, had also contributed to his defeat. One of them is Hon. James Abiodun Faleke representing Ikeja Federal Constituency. Hon. Faleke and others were accused to have run a dry and unfriendly campaign for Hon. Gbajabiamila. Other members of the same Gbajabiamila caucus revealed how Hon. Faleke and few others had isolated them from the campaign activities that preceded the speakership elections. They alleged that Hon. Faleke and his likes would not even welcome advice and suggestions from anyone.
In addition, majority of the House members who despise Gbajabiamila’s arrogance had feelings that if he eventually emerged the Speaker, he would not favour them because Hon. Gbajabiamila already considers them his perceived enemies. So they did everything possible to aid his defeat. Also, our findings revealed that most of the legislators that didn’t return to the 8th National Assembly felt it would be safer for them to have Hon. Dogara as Speaker. Therefore, most of them worked and canvassed for him.
In the same vein, information has it that members of the House, including some of the ardent supporters of Hon. Gbajabiamila, are now lobbying seriously for leadership and membership of various juicy committees of the House, while some of them restrict the urge to meet with the new Speaker personally because of the fear of being considered unfaithful to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is said to have remained bitter and sad over the emergence of Hon. Dogara as Speaker. These latter set of people are, therefore, lobbying secretly.
With this development, and as things continue to unfold, many may wonder if the kinship bonding Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Hon. Oyetunde Oladimeji Ojo won’t be affected in one way or another. Well, it might not affect their kinship. Things like this happen in politics.
