OSOBA, GBENGA DANIEL DEBUNK MAKING MOVES TO JOIN APC

The former Ogun State Governors, Otunba Gbenga Daniel (OGD) and Aremo Olusegun Osoba have debunked the report credited to PM news, and which has been spreading around, especially on social media, that they are both set to defect from their various political parties to All Progressive Congress (APC).

In an exclusive interview with Otunba Gbenga Daniel, the former governor debunked the report that he has been making moves to reconcile with APC leaders, adding that there has never been anything of such. He noted that for now, he is not even going into active politics, let alone making moves to joining APC. He described the report and claim that he has been appealing to the leaders of APC to accommodate as mischievous and fallacy.

It would be recalled that Gbenga Daniel Daniel had been a member of the Alliance for Democracy in 1999 before he joined the Peoples Democratic Party to contest the 2003 gubernatorial election against Aremo Olusegun Osoba in Ogun State. He won the election under the platform of PDP. However, in 2011, as a result of the dispute between him and other leaders of PDP, he founded a political party, Peoples Party of Nigeria (PPN).

Similarly, prior to 2015 general elections, Gbenga Daniel decided to rejoin the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. But his association with PDP was later jettisoned by his frosty relationship with Prince Buruji Kashamu, who denied Gbenga Daniel the Senate ticket for Ogun East.

In the same vein, Aremo Olusegun Osoba has also denied making moves to join All Progressive Congress (APC). A source close to Osoba revealed that it was the leaders of the All Progressive Congress (APC) that have been trying everything possible to woo the former governor to their party.

Osoba and his supporters defected from APC to the Social Democratic Party (SDP) ahead of the 2015 general elections. Osoba was a founding father of the APC but a disagreement with Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosu, and the inability of the national leadership of the APC to settle the quarrel has led to his moving the SDP with his supporters.
