The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly (AKHA) this afternoon on the purported directive of the Peoples Democratic Party declared vacant the seats of its members who recently recamped to the opposition parties.
The announcement which came as a surprise was delivered by the Speaker of the House, Elder Sam Ikon after the days’ deliberations, bothering on the augmentation of the 2015 budget among others issues.
Four of the five members who have so far decamped to the opposition parties were affected including the members representing Mbo, Hon. Alice Ekpenyong, Uruan, Hon. Kufre Etuk, Urue Offong/Oruko, Bassey Etienam & Paul Owo of Ini State Constituency.
Meanwhile, the member representing Ini State Constituency, Mr Paul Owo has notified the public that the affected members are already in court to challenge the decision of the House.
