The Onikan Stadium, Lagos is set to host the 4th edition of the GTBank Master’s Cup (formerly Heritage Cup) quarter finals scheduled for Thursday, February 26th, 2015 and Friday, 27th, February 2015. The Master’s Cup is a GTBank pioneered and sponsored football competition for first generation and missionary secondary schools in Lagos state to promote camaraderie and foster friendliness amongst competing schools.
The Season 4 of the prestigious football tournament commenced in November 2014 with 20 Male teams and 10 female teams from participating schools. The Season 3 of the football competition was won by Eko Boys High school in the male category and Queen’s College, Yaba in the female category.
The Quarter final stage of the competition will feature the 8 Male teams that qualified from the group stage. The teams include Western College, Yaba C.M.S Grammar School, Bariga Grace High School, Gbagada Jibril Martain Grammar School, Iponri St. Finbarr’s College, Akoka Federal Science and Technology College, Yaba St. Gregory’s College, Ikoyi and King’s College, Lagos.
Winners will be rewarded with the sum of N750,000.00, N500,000.00 and N350,000.00 for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners respectively in both the male and female categories.
While commenting on the competition, Mr. Segun Agbaje, Managing Director, Guaranty Trust Bank said that “At GTBank, we believe that sports and education are imperative to youth development. He further stated that “This competition also serves as a platform for the players and students of participating schools to share ideas, and imbibe the spirit of team work and fair play.”
