The running mate of Deacon Udom Gabriel Emmanuel, the Akwa Ibom State PDP Governorship candidate, Obong Moses Ekpo has dismissed as a ruse, his purported resignation from ticket as reported by a local tabloid in the state.
Obong Ekpo reaffirmed his joint candidacy as Deputy Governor for the 2015 General Elections, during the Ibeno Governorship Campaign rally held at the Council Secretariat in Ukpenekang. Describing the news as unfounded, totally false and misleading, the seasoned diplomat argued that, he was very committed to the PDP ticket given his total conviction that, in Udom Gabriel Emmanuel, Akwa Ibom have the right man to actialize the dream of industrialization, sustainable development and good governance which will leap frog the state to a new dawn in her steady match to greatness. He therefore charged the people to ignore the rumour mongers who are scared of the momentum of the PDP campaign and reiterated the determination of the. Party to sweep the polls at all levels come 2015.
Addressing the mammoth crowds that thronged the rallies at Ibeno and Esit Eket, the PDP Standard bearer reassured the people that, his administration will attach priority to the Esit Eket/ Ibeno State Constituencies for the fact that, they are very important as the oil and gas bearing communities in the State.
Deacon Emmanuel assured that, the ongoing dualization of Ibeno/Etinan road and ensure that, he will complete every major project initiated by Governor Godswill Akpabio, whose passion for the development of the oil producing communities he also shares.
Deacon Emmanuel promised to ensure that more oil and gas firms and industries are attracted to the area, as well as encourage the mechanization of fishing in the area, while enabling the Nigerian Navy and security agencies to prevent and eradicate sea piracy in the area.
While acknowledging the good conduct of the people of both Local Governments in maintaining the peace and good relations with the oil companies already operating in the area including Exxon Mobil, Deacon Emmanuel thanked the youths for being of good conduct and assured that his administration will be youth-friendly and make their empowerment a cardinal part of his agenda.
He called for continued peace and security in the area, so that the enabling atmosphere for investment to thrive and the sustained development of the area is achieved.
Prominent indigenes of Ibeno who addressed the crowd at Ukpenekang include, Ibeno Council Chairman, Rt. Hon. Henry Ekpe Nko, Barr. Rex Ulaito
former Commissioner, Mrs Eunice Thomas, Mr Kennedy Akwaowo, Eket senatarial District PDP chairman, Mr Friday Ikpo, Hon. Ekpenyong Enyina, and Ibeno PDP Chapter Chairman, Hon. Ekoakwaha Etteh. They all gave their nod for the PDP at the polls and described Udom Emmanuel as God-sent and the very best.
In a similar vein, those who drummed support for the PDP candidates at the Esit Eket rally were Political Leader of Esit Eket, Elder Benjamin Udobia, Council Chairman, Hon. Ibanga Etang, PDP State Officer Hon. Prince Edet Inyang Bassey, Chapter Chairman Esit Eket PDP and Hon. Godwin Abia.
During the rally, the State Chairman of the PDP, Obong Paul Ekpo presented candidate who will fly the flag of the party for the various offices including, House of Representatives Candidate for Eket Federal Constituency, Hon Mrs Owoidughe Ekpoatai, Eket Senatorial District Candidate, Rt. Hon. Nelson Effiong and Rt. Hon. Usoro Akpanusoh, Esit Eket/Ibeno State Constituency.
The PDP boss urged Esit Eket and Ibeno people to keep faith with the PDP and heed the counsel of their elders and leaders to re-elect President Goodluck Jonathan and vote massively for only PDP candidates beginning with Mr President, Deacon Udom Emmanuel as governor and others down the line.
The high point of the event at Esit Eket was the presentation of a horse to Governor Akpabio and a sword of victory to Deacon Udom Emmanuel by the good people of Esit Eket
