IJAW COMMUNITY IN LAGOS PLEDGE SUPPORT FOR APC ON EVE OF PRESIDENT JONATHAN’S VISIT TO LAGOS

“I see only Lagosians and Nigerians not ethnic or religious groups”, says Governor Fashola
On the eve of the President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan’s visit to Lagos today, to flag off his presidential campaign, his kinsmen under the aegis of the Ijaw Community Forum in Lagos yesterday pledged their support to the All progressive Congress (APC), saying they chose to identify with the progress and policies of the Lagos State Government.

In his remarks at the Lagos House, Marina venue of a meeting between the Community and the Governor, leader of the Community Barrister Patrick Agbeotu told the Governor that the people had, since 2008, followed the regenerational strides of the Governor and have decided to identify with that progress adding that the community had no doubt that the incoming Governor would follow the footsteps of his immediate predecessor.

“We have found you to be an excellent governor. You have performed excellently well and we have no doubt that your successor will tow the same line with you,” Agbeotu said adding that the community has agreed that all hands would be on deck at the coming elections to ensure that the APC wins the State.

Responding, the Governor urged all Nigerians to eschew tribal, ethnic and religious sentiments and work together as creations of God adding that he has chosen to see people as Nigerians and Lagosians no matter their ethnic group, language or religion.

The Governor, however, told his guests that the mere expression of support was not enough but that expression should be translated to good leadership only when members of the community obtain their Permanent Voters Card and proceed to vote on Election Day for the party of their choice, the APC.
