SDP replaces Odunsi’s name with Dimeji Bankole and Adesegun

FORMER Speaker of the House of Representatives, Honourable Dimeji Bankole, appears to have been finally picked as the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the February election.

Nigerian Tribune exclusively gathered that Governor Ibikunle Amosun’s deputy governor, Prince Segun Adesegun, will most likely be his running mate.

Adesegun, it will be recalled had dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC) for SDP, following a no love lost relationship between him and Amosun.

A source had it that the decision to pick Bankole was arrived at after a meeting between some prominent elders in Egbaland and former governor of the state, Chief Olusegun Osoba, somewhere at Ake area of Abeokuta, the state capital.

Nigerian Tribune had, last week, reported that loyalists of the former speaker had perfected plans to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), if the national leadership of the party failed to address alleged injustice recorded in the last congresses.

Although, names of serving senator from Ogun West, Akin Odunsi and former chairman of the State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Ms Olubunkonla Onabanjo, was announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as standard-bearers of the party.

The party, according to the source, may unveil Bankole/Adesegun by Friday
