Former Military Governor of the old Western State, Gen. Adeyinka Adebayo retd., has advised the Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, to ignore critics as long as the policies of his government were meant to improve the living standard of the people.
Adebayo, who spoke in his country home in Iyin-Ekiti on Tuesday when Fayose paid him a visit said going by experience, people would always criticise government policies.
Adebayo, the father of the first civilian governor of the state, Otunba Niyi Adebayo, also called on the people of the state to sincerely support their leaders and government.
He said, “I am happy to see you here. My house is for everybody if you are doing good, as I see myself as a father to all. As the Military Governor of the old Western State, I did my best for Ekiti people.
“I was lucky that I had the opportunity to serve Ekiti people. I was able to bring water, schools and hospitals to my people as governor. Since Ekiti State was created, the governors have been doing their best.
“What we need now is to generate more money for the setting up of industries. Forget what people say about what you do as governor as long as you are doing the right things.
“Ekiti people should support their government. With the sincere support of the people, then those leading them will be able to do more,” he added.
Earlier, Fayose told the general that he had to visit him following a surprise call he got from him on Monday.
“I am here to appreciate your love for Ekiti and the people of the state. I want to assure you that we will bank on your counsel and advice. We are wishing you long life and the more you are here for us the better for us,” he said.
