2014 STATE OF OSUN SECONDARY SCHOOLS’ CAREER SHOW AND MUSIC COMPETITION holds

From time immemorial, various forms of cultural heritage were passed
on to the next generation through informal educational methods and one
of this is music. Music in Education today is obviously beyond
lullabies moonlight plays, festivals and the likes which dominated the
ancient period. Thus, it has been discovered that music is part of
human values which students easily learn from and a previous heritage
which must be preserved through generations.

The above described the reason for the adoption of secondary schools’
career show and musical competition, an initiative pioneered by an
astute young Nigerian Dare Eluyemi popularly known as Darey young who
doubles as founder and Director of young shall grow crew, Nigeria, and
state of Osun secondary schools career show and music competition. The
competition which started seven years ago has come to stay and its
numerous positive impact will undoubtedly remain indelible. The 2014
edition of the show marked the 7th edition of the apex secondary
school musical competition grandslam event in the state of Osun and of
course had explosive time of participants this year from both public
and private sectors.
The 2014 edition of the Annual state of Osun secondary schools career
show and Music competition was hosted by Pat Obilor, an international
presenter. The big event had various eminent personalities on sit such
as representatives of the state Governor, commissioners and top
government functionaries in the society. Secondary schools
(private and public) were drawn from different geopolitical areas of
the state to the event to participate in song, choreography and dance.
Seven secondary schools scaled through the auditioning strata to the
final stage of the competition held on the 13th of November at Henny
Alex Duduyemi Memorial college Hall, Ile – Ife.
While welcoming guests and participant, the conveingner of the event,
Dare Eluyemi (Darey Young) expressed his sincere appreciation to all
educational stakeholders in the state. He also commended the state
government on her various initiatives geared towards making all
students of the state become a better individual that will positively
contribute to national development. The YSG boss reiterated the need
for parents to invest on the education of their wards pointing to the
fact that education remains the only antidote against poverty,
illiteracy, and ignorance. He noted that the state of Osun career show
and music competition is not just about who came first but about the
general development of the minds of every student in the state. He
stressed further, by encouraging the students to develop the innate
potential(s) in them as that is capable of taking them to the apex in
life. The founder of Young Shall Grow Nigeria equally admonished the
students to explore skill acquisition alongside their schooling. He
pointed to the fact that “education without vocation is nullity and
therefore void” but skill acquisition will serve as tool against
unemployment and various form as the case may be.
The United Methodist Anglican High School Ilesa opened the stage with
their captivating rendition described as “explosive” by the judges at
the big event and was immediately followed by St. David High School
Ile – Ife. Salvation Army Middle School, Osogbo, school of Science Ile
– Ife, Emmanuel college Ilesa and Henny Alex Duduyemi all had their
presentation before a comedian by the name ‘Flexmore’ provided some
comic relief. United High School Ilesa won the 2014 state of Osun
career show music competition with a total sure of 75% while runner up
and third place ware a warded to school of science Ile – Ife and
salvation Army middle school Ile – Ife respectively. The winners
expressed their gratitude to the state government of Osun and Young
shall Grow crew Nigeria for the privilege given to them to express
their talents potentials right from the auditioning stage of the
competition to the final day.
Notably, the state of Osun Career show and music competition 2014 did
not fail to reward certain people who have positively contributed to
the development of lives and the society as they are conferred with
award of service to humanity.
The awardees are barrister kola Balogun ( Osun State commissioner for
Youths, Sports and Special Needs) Sola Allyson and Bimbo Thomas . The
awareness was full of joy and described the award as encouragement and
empowerment to positively affect more lives and the society at large.

While speaking on behalf of other awardees, Sola Allyson,
congratulated all school that participated at the 2014 edition of the
competition and encouraged them to stick to every virtue they have
learnt during the competition. The famous Gospel Singer lauded young
shall grow Nigeria and the state Government for the initiative ,
describing it a very brilliant idea to develop the minds of students
in secondary and of course a good platform to discover talents. Sola
Allyson, mother of three precious kids really motivated and inspired
students at the competition as she admonished to reach for the best in
life through self belief, confidence, focus, seriousness, faith, work
and determination.
