After going to Onitsha yesterday night to flag off Christmas decorations, the contract of which was executed at the cost of over 670 Million Naira, Gov. Obiano will this evening present 100 horses to the police in Anambra for what he called “crowd control, security and merriment.”
How the horses will be distributed:
1. Governor’s Lodge 5
2. Each of the 21 Local governments Area in the State 3 = 63
3. Additional 15 for Awka
4. Additional 10 for Onitsha
5. Additional 7 for Nnewi
Total 100, which cost N850, 000 apiece (N85Million in all)
The two trailers carrying them arrived Awka from Niger Republic two days ago and were of-loaded at Special site prepared for them at Agu Awka.
The horses ought to have arrived three months ago, but for the problem of Boko Haram in the North Eastern part of the State.
The contract for the purchase was won and executed by Chief Mike Kwentoh and Chief Ifeanyi Udokwu (Ekwueme Ogidi), the Chairman and Deputy Chairman of APGA, Anambra State.
Those to take care of the horses, 1 person per Local Government went on special training to Niger and are back to the State.
Gov. Obiano is expected to discuss the matter in his next Ex-co, to determine how much will be voted per month for their upkeep.
