The Chief Press Secretary to Ekiti State Governor, Mr Idowu Adelusi, has said no amount of blackmail by the All Progressives Congress (APC) will discourage Governor Ayo Fayose in his determination not to allow the killer squad of former APC government return to the state.
In a statement in Ado-Ekiti on Monday, Adelusi noted that within four years of Kayode Fayemi administration, 10 persons were assassinated by a killer squad led by Mr Deji Adesokan, a security aide of Kayode Fayemi.
“The list went on to include, Mr Awolumate, Ayo Jeje, Juliana Adewumi, Funso Ogundare, Omolafe Aderiye among others and APC leaders such as the State Chairman, Chief Jide Awe, Hon. Kehinde Boluwade, Adeniyi Adedipe among others who were indicted have been charged to court for murder.
“Why is it that the APC government of Fayemi asked them not to be prosecuted? Why not allow justice to take its course? Ekiti people can say who runs a killer squad,” he said.
Adelusi said it was this same killer gang being controlled outside Ekiti State then that was terrorising people of the state during Fayose’s first term in office in order to portray the Fayose administration at that time as bad.
“Their evil conspiracy was blown open when OPC leader then, Adeniyi Adedipe, stated in a sworn court affidavit that he was recruited by the E-11 to smear the name of Governor Fayose by saying that it was the governor who sent them to kill and perpetrate evil in the state,” he noted.
He said the PDP-led government would not compromise security of lives and property and advise the remnants of the APC thugs and trouble makers to leave the state.
Adelusi urged the people of Ekiti State to remain law abiding, assuring that notwithstanding the present challenges, the governor would fulfil all his electoral promises.
