GE Demonstrates Role of Industrial Internet to Customers, Stakeholders

As part of efforts to create more awareness on how the Industrial internet helps speed up industrialisation, General Electric, a global technology and infrastructure leader, has held a forum for stakeholders and customers. Participants learned how GE’s “industrial internet” and automation solutions can help their businesses.

The day focused on the Industrial Internet, Industrial Big Data and Real-time Operational Intelligence (RtOI), as well as Remote Monitoring & Diagnostics and High Performance Automation solutions.

The Regional manager GE Intelligent Platforms Arthur Bosman said “getting the most out of existing infrastructure is the new priority for business in Africa.” According to him “The Industrial Internet transforms the way companies work by driving new possibilities to maximize asset availability and boost profit margins.” He added that the Industrial Revolution radically changed the way we use energy and make things. The Internet Revolution altered how we communicate, consume information, and spend money. A combination of these two transformations is what we now call the Industrial Internet.

On his part, President and CEO of GE Nigeria Dr Lazarus Angbazo said the Industrial Internet helps companies save costs and boost performance. Dr Angbazo disclosed that Union Pacific, America’s largest railroad company, has improved productivity by wiring its locomotives with sensors that monitor parts and supply data to algorithms that try to predict whether or when a component might break down. “Industrial data is not only big, it’s the most critical and complex type of big data,” he concluded.DSC_4188A
