Prince Abdul Rasheed Adesupo Adetona,the immediate younger brother of the Awujale and Paramount ruler of Ijebuland, Oba (Dr.) Sikiru Kayode Adetona is dead.
He was aged 71. And family sources said he may be buried tomorrow.
He died early this morning at his 3, Tokunbo Omisore street, Off Wole Olateju Crescent, off Admiralty way, Lekki Phase one residence in Lagos.
He was the founding President of the Business Recovery and Insolvency Practitioners Association of Nigeria, BRIPAN.
He was the only remaining male sibling of the revered monarch.
Until his death,he was a chartered accountant and a member of the defunct Hope Family,who during the 1999 general elections,pulled out from the then Alliance for Democracy, AD, to joined the All Peoples Party, APP.
A family source revealed that he was hale and hearty yesterday before the news of he died this morning. “He just slumped this morning and died”, said a family source.
Prince Adetona’s death coincided with the 20th anniversary of his mother’s death.
One of his friends,who does not want his name in print said he spoke with him yesterday for over an hour, only to learn about his death this morning.
“Prince’s death was still a shock to me,we spoke for over an hour yesterday and he explained how he planned to remember his mother,who clocked 20 years that she died today. He even planned to pay for a full page advertorial in some newspapers and we talked about many other things and just last night,I was told that he had died, just like that, is that how someone dies? “, the old man said.
An Islamic organisation, Quareeb has approached the family for a programme this weekend at Ijebu Ode,which the group planned to use to mark the 20th anniversary of the monarch’s mother.
Prince Supo Adetona was a devoted Muslim in his lifetime. He also supported the cause of Islam both in Nigeria and overseas.
He was survived by a wife and a son.
