The Abia State Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Ken Nwosu, who was shot last week by gunmen while on his way to his country home, is dead.
He died after medical doctors battled in vain to save his life for the five days he was in the hospital.
Dr Nwosu, a former executive director at the National Root Crop Research Institute, Umudike, near Umuahia, retired from service and was made the Commissioner for Agriculture in Abia State.
He was sworn in as a commissioner in September 2013 but was shot last Wednesday night on his way home after the day’s job.
He was rushed to the State Specialist and Diagnostic Hospital in Umuahia, where the Chief Medical Director, Professor Augustus Mbanaso, led a team of doctors to save his life to no avail.
