(Yomi Amoo posted this on His Facebook Page)
Governor Aregbesola arrived the campaign rally ground rather late. He took so much time apologizing, begging his supporters (and co) for understanding and forgiveness. Soon after this, heavy downpour descended on d gathering. It was heavy, stormy and windy. This elated crowd could only endure the precarious situation for few minutes. Within 5minutes, all I could see was Aregbesola and other top government functionaries enjoying natural shower, reminiscence of the days children enjoy ‘rain game’
It was very interesting to see a sitting governor, addressing his subjects that have taken cover under d shade, while he (the governor) remains in d rain (perhaps in d sun). But, would Aregbesola have done same if it was not an election year!
I hope d Nigerian masses wake up to know how much power they have over the few ruling elites.
However, yours truly, Yomi Amoo, received the worst beating of his life at the campaign ground. They called these sets, “awon boys”; the ‘counter terror arms’ constituted by Osun APC. These guys are deadly.
My camera was busy recording the rain melodies when they accosted me. They made effort to dispossess me of my cameras and other communication gadgets. They broke several bottles threatening to kill me. “E fo igo mo lori” Meaning, shatter bottles on his head… Suddenly, the accusation was that I was an Omisore’ (PDP gubernatorial candidate) paid agent. They said the scene was bad enough for the benefit of the opposition camp.
In the process, I was led to the ‘Militant Commader general, called “The law”. The no-nonsense commander instantly demanded for my identity. He instructed his boys not kill me, as this may deem the party (APC) image. However, he instructed I submit all d photo and communication gadgets I had on me. While this was going on, some 30 agile men were raining all sorts of hard objects on me. The beating was just too severe. Some were struggling to extend sharp objects into my body.
It was sad that while this abuse lasts, I saw security agents (paid wt tax payers sweat) looking but pretend not to see. The shocking part was that these street urchins, having collected all I had on me, handed me over to the (Nigerrian) police. The Militant Commander instructed an Assistant Supt Of Police (I guess) to take care of me so his boys wl not eat me raw. So I fnd myself inside the police Van. I immediately alerted the police that these are criminals, already dipossessed me of my valuables. I begged them to arrest them. Then I realized “I don enter one-chance”
The argument that followed was terrible enough that an ASP officer threatened to remove his uniform and beat me to a coma.
When I saw Amiotu Shittu, of the De Raufs (a campaign sect of Aregbe 2014…), it was like a messiah is around. I walked away from the policemen (even as they threatened), “Comrade Amiotu, pls, I need your audience, these police….. Comrade Shittu waited 2 seconds, looked at my face, then quickly zoomed off. At this point, the policemen descended on me, took away the only phone left on. “Bring that phone, if u dial that phone again…”
Good God, Mr Kadiri (of O’yes) came to rescue. He was practically begging the police officers…. “He is one of us sir, a comdrade… Aregbe….”. Then they granted me an unconditional bail.
As we drive to Osogbo, we met an accident scene. An old man (an octogenarian) was hit by a ‘hit and run’ vehicle. He was laid dead in pool of blood. His bicycle was seen flown apart. It it most likely that one of the reckless drivers, possibly from the rally, was responsible. Yes, I’m sure this road had not bn that busy in d recent time.
Now in Osogbo, we were directed to the residence, state commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Sunday Akere. Mr Akere, did confirmed these boys were recruited, for self defense and to balance FG (PDP) terror. And to my surprise, my Cameras and co were already in d custody of the Mr Akere. He generously released them ‘without paying any ransom’. Mr Akere was however not in any way concerned about my predicaments in hands of these recruited urchins…. ” Please, I’m late, off to see the governor, the artistes that performed at the rally are already wt the governor”
Honestly, if I was a PDP member, these guys wl have lynched me till I give up the ghost. But this is wrong! I’m a Nigerian, and the Law of the land still permits me d freedom of movement and association.
The last time PDP government used it might to stop APC governors from entering Ekiti, we heard so much dissenting voices. It only shows that we now live in a banana republic, where government at all level, across political parties, are terror wherever they enjoy upper hand.
Already, I lost valuables in the fracas. More importantly, I’m feeling so much pains all over my body. I couldn’t sleep throughout the night. As I seek medical help, pls if the situation turn worst and in case…., Osun APC, Governor Aregbesola and Osun State Police Command should be held responsible. For me, liberty or death!
With all I’ve seen, For President Jonathan not to cause a problem that may claim more lives than the Boko Haram insurgency, he must assure and ensure a free and fair election in d state of Osun. For me, if Osun APC devices means to counter terror, it is good, but I’m afraid, counter terror, in this case, may turn terrorism. Federal government must make effort to deploy security personnel that enjoy no fraternity with any of the opposing parties.
