Fayose why i distribute rice to students yestrday

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodele Fayose Friday distributed rice to the students of Ekiti State University (EKSU) to solicit their support in next weekend’s election.

Besides, each of the students that besieged his Spotless Hotel located in GRA, Onigari, Ado Ekiti, following a radio announcement by his Campaign Organisation also went home with N2, 000 each.

The management of EKSU had on Monday, June 9, closed down the university and asked the students to return home and prepare towards the governorship election.

Addressing the highly elated students, who sang Fayose’s praises, the PDP flag bearer said the gesture was borne out of the passion he has for students in the state, assuring that he would slash their school fees from N100, 000 being paid presently to an affordable rate if elected governor.

Fayose also disclosed that about 10,000 bags of rice would be distributed to market women across the state, while 6,000 have been allotted to each of the 16 council areas and another 15,000 bags earmarked for distribution to other selected groups as palliatives.

Fayose, however, clarified that only students with the School Identity cards and voters’ cards will be eligible to benefit from the gesture.

“The outgoing Governor Kayode Fayemi closed down the school so that you won’t be able to exercise your franchise, but I am ready to support you. This gesture is to ensure that you stay till the day of election in Ado Ekiti and cast your votes for me.

“Your votes for me is very essential so that I will be able to reduce your school fees and stop the era of no school fees, no examinations in EKSU,” Fayose said.

Pledging that his administration would ensure speedy revival of the dwindling fortunes of education in the state, Fayose expressed disgust with the level of decadence and highhandedness that have allegedly crept into the state owned ivory tower.

He said: “With your support, I know that this election is already won. But I want to plead with you not to collect money from our enemy on the day of the election. I am ready to support you and ensure that you live a good life on campus”, he said.fayose
