Ekiti Guber Poll: PDP In serious Alliance Talks With Opeyemi Bamidele

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is leaving no stone unturned in its desire to win Ekiti state in the governorship election scheduled for June 21.

The PDP from fresh reports has entered into talks with the opposition groups in the state for possible alliance ahead of the governorship election.

 

The Labour Party is top in the consideration of PDP amid plans to bring the governorship flag-bearer of the party , Opeyemi Bamidele into its fold in form of an alliance meant to root out the All Progressive Congress (APC) out of Ekiti.

It is not certain yet whether Bamidale had consented to the plans by PDP, but top members of the party in Wadata House Abuja said the Labour Party’s governorship candidate would consent to the plan.

Bamidale had earlier reiterated that he would not go into any form of alliance with any political party as he repeatedly expressed confidence in his ability to win the governorship  election for his party with hard work.

He has been consistent in his campaigns, which he uses to address pertinent issues in Ekiti state without recourse to sentiment and foul language.

Different surveys by groups in Ekiti have indicated that the Labour Party, though strong in some local government areas of the state owing to support for the party by strong decampees from APC and PDP into its fold, the party cannot possibly displace the APC and PDP during the election.

A possible PDP alliance with the Labour Party and other political groups in Ekiti, according to reports was part of efforts made by Vice President Namadi Sambo with top echelon of the party last week in Ekiti.

Sambo was detailed to remain in Ekiti after the PDP held its grand rally in Ado Ekiti which witnessed some unprecedented crowd, his mission being to address the problem of breakdown of law and order in Ekiti state PDP.

The Vice President, aided by one time National Vice Chairman of PDP for south-west, Chief Bode George reportedly held consultations with key political elements in Ekiti state after the PDP grand rally, drawing a reassuring agenda for PDP to win the state hands down.

President Goodluck Jonathan, the PDP National Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Mu’Azu, Chief Tony Anenih, Godswill Akpabio and other top PDP leaders had predicted sweeping victory for PDP in the coming governorship election in Ekiti.

The PDP leaders had vowed to ensure a transparent condict of the election, while calling on members of the party to ensure the protection of their votes during the election.
