The wife of Ekiti State Governor, Erelu Bisi Fayemi has urged women supporting her husband not to be afraid of coming out on Election Day saying that her husband would use his office to protect them.
Besides, she has also assured voters in the state of her husband’s continued devotion to their welfare if elected for a second term. Speaking against the background of reports of violence on Election Day and fears of Election Day apathy, Mrs. Fayemi yesterday reminded women and all voters not to be deceived by the machination of her husband’s political rivals.
Mrs Fayemi was speaking at Iye Ekiti yesterday in Ilejemeje Local Government Area of Ekiti State during a rally for market men and women.
While noting that women would be given a pride of place if her husband is re-elected, Fayemi said her husband was running on his track record of solid achievements unlike the candidates of other parties.
“Members of opposition are threatening that they will bombard the State with soldiers, police and other security agencies to scare the people from voting. This is a blatant lie and you have to discountenance such.
“The Fayemi-led administration will provide adequate security for you to vote that day. Nobody can harass you just because you want to perform your civic responsibility”, Mrs Fayemi stated.
She told the women to begin a house-to –house campaign with the intention to garner more supports for her husband.
Speaking at the occasion, the APC Woman Leader in the State, Mrs Funke Owoseeni, assured that women will benefit more if Fayemi is reelected to steer the ship of the state. “I am 100 percent sure that my husband will defeat other candidates in this election. He will win hands down because he is running on a solid track records,” Mrs. Fayemi said.
“Our consistent canvass for votes is not that we are jittery but to ensure that no voter is left behind. We have to sensitize our people and increase the advocacy for voters’ education to prevent apathy. “We have gone round all the farmsteads and this is for us to be familiar with the challenges being faced in those communities.
This will form part of the strategies to tackle social and economic problems at the grassroots during the second term of this administration”.
Mrs Fayemi who had earlier visited Oye town, advised women to troop out en masse and vote for her husband on the day of election and keep vigil to ensure that their votes count.
