All three major candidates, Kayode Fayemi, Opeyemi Bamidele and Ayodele Fayose yesterday pledged to be of good behaviour for the rest of the campaign.
The three who were at a meeting summoned by the Council of Traditional Rulers where 13 other candidates of the other political parties were also invited.
Former governor Ayo Fayose who came late to the meeting caused a scene at the event as he prostrated before the Obas when accused of coming late to the meeting.
Chairman of the council and the Onitaji of Itaji Ekiti Oba Adamo Babalola in his opening speech, noted that the traditional rulers in the State were worried at the pace of violence, considering how campaigns were being carried out by some of the notable candidates.
Oba Babalola said all the candidates must pledge to the traditional rulers not to allow their actions and utterances nor those of their supporters ignite crisis in any part of the State.
All the candidates spoke one after the other, pledged not to allow the state to be thrown into crisis on account of the campaigns.
In his own comment, Fayemi pledged to the Obas not to allow violence take over Ekiti, in his capacity as Chief Security Officer of the State.
He called on the monarchs to compel the candidates to also sign letters of undertaking to be of good behaviour, adding that any candidate who breached such peace accord must be dealt with traditionally.
Fayose, the PDP candidate on his part did not only swear not to engineer violence but also rained curses on himself if found wanting.
