The Kano State Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr Baraka Sani, has resigned as member of the State Executive Council.
Sani, who confirmed the resignation through a text message to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kano on Thursday, did not however give reasons for her action.
Asked if it was true that she had resigned as being speculated and she replied: “Yes, I have.’’
A reliable source however said she resigned on Wednesday following disagreement with Gov. Rabi’u Kwankwaso over selection of some candidates for the forthcoming local government election.
“The commissioner was not happy because the governor had refused to consider one of her candidates for the election in the state’’, the source said.
The former Commissioner for Education, Alhaji Faruk Iya, resigned in Nov. 2013 in protest against moves by Kwankwaso to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).
