Omisore Challenges Aregbesola on WAEC Results!

Osun State PDP gubernatorial candidate, Senator Iyiola Omisore has condemned the education policy of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola following the 2013 WASSCE results released by WAEC where Osun State placed 23rd position.

Speaking through his Director of Media and Strategy, Prince Diran Odeyemi, Senator Omisore said: ” The grandstanding of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola that his education policy is the best in Nigeria and indeed Africa has proved to be the worst going by the results of 2013 West African Senior School Certificate Examination”

Senator Omisore who delved into the analytical statistics of WASSCE results in the State said: “The position of Osun state prior to PDP era in 2013 was 26th, but with serious commitment to the educational sector backed with good policy under PDP, the result improved in 2005, Osun state was up to 20th position and by 2009, was 14th with approximately 70.8% percent general improvement in the sector which did not leave the teachers behind”

The former Deputy Governor,  however ,lamented that within three and a half years of Ogeni Rauf Aregbesola’s (ACN/APC) government in Osun state, education has gone comatose, dropping from 14th position in 2009 to 23rd in 2014, the worst in the Southwest, despite the billions of Naira the governor claimed to have expended on education.

Ogbeni Rauf AregbesolaIt is unfortunate that as at today, Academic staffs of the  four tertiary institutions in Osun state have been on industrial action since February over non-payment of salaries and other minor issues which up till now has never been addressed by Ogbeni Aregbesola”

“We have said it that Aregbesola’s government is a government of mere noise and propaganda, lecturers salary and allowances are not paid, students are denied bursaries, basic facilities needed in the laboratories are not provided, 65 years retirements age as implemented in other Southwest states are not approved, over 100,000 students of the state owned four tertiary institutions are roaming the streets yet Ogbeni said he his performing, are these not propaganda and deceit?

Senator Omisore therefore challenged Ogbeni Aregbesola to come out and state with facts and figures how much he had expended on education in general and in particular on state owned tertiary institutions as subventions  since his assumption of office over three years ago.
