An associate of General Muhammadu Buhari, Alhaji Abdulmajid Danbilki Kwamanda, yesterday urged the leadership of the All Progressive Congress (APC) to probe the visit of four South-west governors to President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.
Our correspondent recalled that last Tuesday, the governor of Lagos state, Babatunde Bashola, led APC governors in the South-west to President Jonathan. At the end of the meeting which was held behind closed door, the governors said the meeting was a private one.
Speaking with our correspondent, Danbiliki urged the leadership of the APC to urgently probe the visit in order to forestall a repeat of what happened during the 2011 general elections when the South-west abandoned the presidential candidate of the defunct ACN, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, for Jonathan.
“They abandoned Ribadu at the dying minutes and we don’t want a repeat of that conspiracy this time around, because Nigerians are clamouring for change. Nigerians are eagerly watching to see the reaction of our leaders in APC on this secret visit,” he said.
He urged former governor of Lagos state, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to call the governors to order so as to douse the tension created by their visit.
“We have started suspecting foul play in view of what happened in 2011. So Tinubu should call his men together because I don’t see reasons why they should hobnob with Jonathan,” he said.
He described the statement of President Jonathan during the rally of the PDP in North-west, that former governor of Kano Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau and his Sokoto state counterpart, Attahiru Bafarawa would deliver Kano and Sokoto states come 2015, as a daydream.
He said with the popularity of Kwankwaso and Wamakko, APC will win Kano, Sokoto and all the remaining states in the North-west, saying Nigerians are tired of the misrule of the PDP that has turned the country upside down.
