Strong indications emerged last night that the first executive governor of Osun State, Alhaji Isiaka Adeleke may have formally joined the governorship race in the forthcoming August 9 governorship election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Sources close to Alhaji Adeleke, told Vanguard that the former chairman, Senate Committee on Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, took the decision after meeting with community leaders in his home town, Ede.
The source added that; “Alhaji Adeleke decided to join the race after deep reflections on the present situation of the state and the need to restore the glorious vision of the states founding fathers.”
Former Deputy Governor of the state, Senator Iyiola Omisore, former Minister of Youth Development, Senator Olasunkanmi Akinlabi and former Chairman, House Committee on Defence, Hon. Oluwole Oke were the only aspirants of the party that paid the N5 million expression of interest fee when the party closed the exercise last year.
The 59-year-old former chairman of the Nigerian Export Promotions Council described Osun as a state with vast human and material potential which can be more rapidly developed with compassionate leadership which he was prepared to offer.
